A conference paper discussing the development of FIDO Cloud Correlation.
Abstract
An estimated 90 per cent of leaks in water pipelines never show above ground, making detecting and locating them exactly a challenge.
One accepted method of locating leaks is correlation, where synchronised acoustic sensors are deployed either side of a suspected leak and a calculation is applied on the recorded noise signals to find the lag between the signals.
However, traditional correlation involves specialised equipment and training. In this paper, Dr Jawwad Latif and others discuss the development of a new, effective and easy cloud-based method for water leak localisation in underground pipelines, which is known as FIDO Cloud Correlation (FCC).
